Is Novak Djokovic full of hot, steaming excrement? (Yes and no).

Date: July 14, 2024

A few days ago, I caught the last 2 mins of the Wimbledon semi-finals.

Djokovic won (spoiler alert), and said something absolutely fascinating in his post-match interview:

The interviewer asks him,

“How do you manage to stay at the top of the tennis game for so long?”

He replies:

(paraphrasing)

“The secret is, there are no secrets. You just got to work hard, and commit.”

I nod my head.

Yup. There are no secrets, only wor---

Wait a minute. Didn’t the commentators just say that Djokovic recovered from surgery at 2x the normal speed by sitting in a fancy oxygen chamber in Belarus?

Hmmm.

Then, Djokovic lets out this little nugget:

“I’m a big believer in working smart, not necessarily working hard.”

Hmm.

Fancy oxygen chamber. Working “smart.” Massive coaching team. Sounds like plenty of room for secrets to me.

I concluded thus:

Yes. That grimy, 4-letter word dressed in overalls – WORK – is very important. But without a doubt, there ARE secrets. I mean, that’s why Bryce what’s-his-face in the UFC trains on his farm. So no-one can see what he’s up to.

Take the online business world.

Yeah, there’s “work”:

Relentlessly iterate & get feedback to find your PMF. Work on your positioning w/ branding and content. Constantly be improving every stage of your funnel. Roger.

But for each of those, there’s secrets.

Your sales page, for example. You can write, cut and change that sucker till the cows come home, but unless you know the tricks of the trade, it’s got a miserable chance of converting.

Now would be a great time to pitch a $15k mastermind to tell you these “tricks.”
